One-on-One Post-Processing Instruction in Moab

Bret is available for one-on-one, private post-processing instruction in Moab, Utah. Clicking the shutter button is only half of the image creation process. Equally important is how you develop those digital images, making adjustments to the color, clarity, contrast and other aspects of the photo that bring it to life, fulfilling your artistic vision. But, how exactly do you do that? It all starts with Adobe Lightroom. Lightroom is the industry standard software for post-processing digital images. Dozens of powerful tools give you the ability to make endless adjustments to your images…and therein lies the problem. All those sliders and buttons, graphs and color wheels can be intimidating and overwhelming. This usually leads to one of two outcomes: photographers either overuse these tools, or they are apprehensive to use them. Either way, the results are typically less than ideal.

Bret has been using Adobe Lightroom since it launched with version one, all the way back in 2007. His knowledge and skill in using Lightroom to develop digital images has been honed over the years through almost daily use and continuing education, developing best practices and dialing in advanced techniques learned from industry experts.

One-on-one instruction is available at the hourly rate of $100/hour, with no minimum. Students will need to supply a laptop running the latest version of Adobe Lightroom. Bret will meet with you in the lobby of your hotel or at another suitable public location. This instruction targets beginner to intermediate users.

Bret is available to work with you at a private photography workshop in Moab, Utah.  While some people prefer to learn in a group environment, others find more success working one-on-one with an instructor.  As a former corporate trainer in the investment industry and a certified Training Generalist, Bret understands the different ways in which adults process information when learning a new skill.  Though he's traded in khakis and a classroom for hiking boots and the Colorado Plateau , he is still very much a passionate educator who enjoys helping other photographers break through creative barriers. 

Bret offers private photography workshops in half or full-day formats.  All private workshops include personalized instruction in the field, transportation from your hotel within the city of Moab to each location we'll visit, image critiques during and after your workshop and all park entrance fees.  Every private workshop is customized to fit the interests and abilities of each individual client and may also include digital darkroom instruction using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, as well as the entire suite of Nik Software plug-ins.

What does a typical full-day private workshop look like?  Bret will pick you up at your hotel in a highly modified Toyota FJ Cruiser about an hour before sunrise.  In the morning you'll visit 2-3 spectacular locations, spending plenty of time at each spot to ensure that you're able to fully explore the area without feeling rushed.  We'll return to town in late morning for a mid-day break to allow time to eat lunch, download images, charge batteries and get some rest.  In the afternoon, Bret will again pick you up at your hotel prior to heading out to visit another 2-3 locations.  After sunset, we'll head back to town where Bret will drop you off at your hotel with your head full of new ideas and your memory cards bulging at the seams.

Bret's extensive knowledge of the Moab area allows him to easily customize a private photography workshop to include a wide variety of locations to suit the interests of virtually any photographer.  Whether you're looking to photograph iconic locations such as Dead Horse Point State Park, Mesa Arch, Delicate Arch and Green River Overlook, off-the-beaten path spots like Marlboro Point, Poison Spider Mesa, Castle Valley Overlook and Long Canyon, or a little bit of both - Bret can design an exciting photography workshop just for you.
