What does a camping blanket have to do with photography? Well, as a nature photographer I spend a lot of time traveling and camping in the quest for new images, and over the last couple of years I’ve become quite attached to my Voited Cloudtouch blanket. I’m not one to spend a few days with a product before writing a review. I prefer to have sufficient time with products so I can really determine their durability and usefulness. I bought my first Cloudtouch blanket sometime around September of 2019, when we took delivery of our first Four Wheel Camper. Twenty seven months of use ought to give me some insight, right? At this point I’ve spent nearly 200 nights under one of these blankets so yeah, I’ve developed an opinion on them.
We orginally bought three of these blankets; one for each of us to use inside the camper as a supplement to our sleeping bags. One side of the blanket is a soft nylon material and the other side (the Cloudtouch side) is a high pile fleece that 100% lives up to its name. In between the two layers is a synthetic fill material Voited calls “Featherlight Fiber”. Each blanket measures 54” x 80” when open, but they also stuff into their own pocket so you can use it as a pillow or you can snap two sides together to create a quasi-sleeping bag. They retail for about $125, which isn’t chump change. Are they worth it?
The short answer is “yes”. The long answer is “hell yes!” Seriously, the Voited Cloudtouch blankets are amazing. Used over a sleeping bag in cold weather they provide a little touch of home as you can pull them up around your neck and burrow into the covers. They also add substantial warmth. In warmer temperatures I only use the blanket while lying on top of the sleeping bag. According to Voited they’re rated to about 46 degrees. These ratings are subjective but it seems accurate to me.

The Cloudtouch fleece is soft. Like, unbelievably soft. On a cold night, wrapping yourself in the blanket with the fleece side against exposed skin instantly delivers warmth to your core while bringing that familiar feeling of your bed at home to your camper/van/tent. You can snap two blankets together, or you can wrap yourself up in one while sitting around the campfire. We’ve used ours as picnic blankets, laid them on the ground at outdoor concerts and snuggled under them on chilly nights at camp while playing Exploding Kittens. Even after all the
There’s a whole lot to like about Voited Cloudtouch blankets, but I’ve got a couple minor - almost petty - things to nitpick. The buttons are metal snaps and in cold weather, they too are cold and when one of them lands on your skin it can be a bit of a shock. When packed into its own pocket to form a pillow, some people may not find it to be comfortable. I like it, but Melisa doesn’t. Again, subjective. Lastly, if you use it outside the Cloudtouch fleece acts a little bit like velcro to things like pine needles, grass, etc. and it takes some time to free the debris from your blanket before you bring it back inside. All three of our blankets are in great shape even after over two years of regular use. No tears or holes, no funky odors and the insulation seems to be just as lofty as it was on day one.
Available in a variety of colors and unique designs, Voited Cloudtouch blankets bring a little bit of luxury and warmth to every camping trip. Voited also makes sweet travel blankets with detachable hoods, changewear, slippers and pet blankets. I’ve got one of these on the backseat of my truck to keep Huck the Adventure Pug’s nails from destroying the leather seats.
