We needed a seat protector for the backseat of the FunHawg as our teenager and Huck the Adventure Pug aren’t the cleanest of travelers. I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on seat covers and after a quick Amazon search I found the iBuddy Bench Seat Protector for $50. Compared to others I’d found, the cheapest of which was $110, this one seemed like a good option. I decided to jump on it thanks in part to nearly 3,000 reviews and a 4.6 rating, along with the fact that I could return it if it didn’t work out.
Initial impressions are positive. It seems well made and thoughtfully designed. The cover has two large openings for seat belts but both of them seal with velcro and have a flap over the top for additional protection when not in use. The cover has adjustable straps on each side that loop over the left and right headrests, and two “seat anchors” that slip through the crack between the seatback and the seat itself. These anchors prevent the seat cover from sliding off the seat, along with a grippy silicone material on the backside of the seat cover. Flaps hang down on the front and sides of the cover to offer additional protection to these vulnerable areas of the seat.
It took my son and I less than five minutes to fully install it - piece of cake! The material seems durable and should be easy to clean. Importantly, it will prevent dog hair from gathering in the crack between the seat and seatback, which is always difficult to clean out.
We’re leaving in a couple of days to spend the summer exploring the Oregon Coast and Cascade Mountains. Upon our return I will update this review with additional insights.
